Committed to our communities.

At SGH, we are committed to continuous improvement. This means growing as individuals and making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. Giving back allows us to do both. Our Volunteerism & Philanthropy program supports and celebrates the time and resources SGH employees give to serve others. Our efforts benefit communities near and far—disadvantaged youth in our local neighborhoods, victims of natural disasters across the world, those suffering from hunger and homelessness, and many more.

Organizations we support.
SGH is proud to support the national and local chapters of the ACE Mentor Program.

Organizations we support.

While our philanthropic efforts support many causes, we strive for a stronger overall impact by aligning with the causes SGH employees care about the most. These causes include youth education, specifically in science, technology, engineering, architecture, and math (STEAM) areas, as well as housing and homelessness. As a result, we make annual corporate donations to ACE Mentor and Rebuilding Together.

The many ways we give back.

Helping to fight hunger

Our New York and DC offices participated in Canstruction in 2022, contributing more than 5,000 cans of food to local food banks.

Building shelter for the homeless

SGH volunteers from Southern California joined Habitat for Humanity for a build day—helping paint trim and install framing for new homes.

Teaching our future engineers

Team members from our Boston office volunteered at the Girl Scouts of Eastern MA Extreme Gingerbread Challenge, teaching young women about designing for earthquakes.

Providing essential supplies

In Oakland, SGH employees organized a holiday donation drive in collaboration with Oakland Elizabeth House to provide household items to women and children in need.

Keith Nelson works with the ACTS Honduras, Ocotal Water Distribution Project. In May 2022, he traveled to Ocotal to help lay out and begin construction for 3.5 miles of water transmission line. The ongoing project includes design, monitoring, and reporting from the U.S., and its next phases involve a storage tank and transmission network. In addition to providing surveying and water distribution system design services, Keith teaches the local citizens construction and maintenance skills.
