Firmwide, we actively lead or participate in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) programs and mentorship opportunities to engage, excite, and help educate future engineers. We also support each SGH office in contributing to local causes important to them to make a difference in their own neighborhoods. Our volunteer and philanthropic activities include local mentoring programs; an annual, companywide charitable golf tournament; participation in food and clothing drives; and financial contributions to a variety of charities.

Design

We work to design and enhance building system efficiencies by reducing non-renewable resources; maximizing the use of salvaged, recycled, local, and renewable materials; and utilizing highly efficient building enclosures and on-site or local renewable energy sources for heating, cooling, and lighting.

Expertise

Our staff includes professionals with LEED and other certifications, many with specialized expertise in green roofs, carbon impacts of structural materials, hygrothermal analysis, high-performance building enclosures, energy modeling, flood mitigation and control, resilient structures, and building enclosure commissioning.

Internal Green Practices

We seek to provide a safe and healthy workplace for our staff and our environment. At all SGH offices, internal “Green Team” members research and promote sustainable practices to their peers to reduce the footprint of our operations and employee activities.
