BSCES Recognizes Paul Kelley as Honorary Member, Peter Nardini with Presidents Award
The Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES) recently recognized Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Senior Principal Paul Kelley and Associate Principal Peter Nardini at the organization’s annual awards dinner on 29 June 2023. BSCES named Paul as an Honorary Member due to his many contributions to the field. An “honorary membership is the highest distinction BSCES can bestow and is reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to BSCES, the civil engineering profession, and/or the well-being of the public.”
“I have worked with Paul for many years and know the level of passion and expertise he brings to his practice and this profession,” said Aaron Lewis, SGH Senior Principal and Structural Engineering Region Head, East. “This award is an enormous honor from a highly respected, technical society.”
Paul’s practice includes a diverse array of structural engineering applications, including providing design consultation on both new structures and repairs and modifications of existing structures. In his more than forty-year career, Paul has become known as an expert in investigating building conditions, including performance, failure analysis, and constructability. He has authored numerous papers and given presentations for industry groups throughout his career. Paul assists in the resolution of many construction-related disputes by presenting expert opinions in mediations, depositions, arbitrations, and trials.
Additionally, Peter was given the BSCES Presidents Award at the event, recognizing his dedication to developing the Utility Engineering & Surveying Institute (UESI) Boston Chapter. Currently serving as Chapter Chair, Peter specializes in condition assessment, failure risk analysis, failure investigation, and repair of pipelines. He performs these services on concrete, metallic, and HDPE pipelines in the water, wastewater, and power generation industries across the U.S. and abroad.
