Hanover House
Scope/Solutions
Located at 100 Hanover Street, Hanover House sits directly across the street from Riverfront Park along the Rappahannock River. The new four-story development is inspired by the area’s historic mill buildings and includes apartments, ground-level retail, a fitness center, an outdoor patio, and parking. Of the twenty-four rental units, four are designated for affordable housing. SGH provided structural engineering services for the project.
As the structural engineer of record, SGH designed the building podium and superstructure and provided construction administration services for the project. Highlights of our design include:
- Concrete mat foundation customized for an 11 ft flood condition
- A floodproofed concrete podium to house ground-level parking and retail spaces
- Three wood-framed stories for the residential levels
- Prefabricated wood-framed roof trusses
- Wood-framed balconies

Visitation Hotel
Formerly a private girls school, the three-acre Visitation campus includes structures dating back to 1850. The property was purchased in 2017 and the new owners undertook a project to repurpose the site as a mixed-use development with a sixty-seven-room boutique hotel and two condominium buildings.

Located in the ten acres defined as Courthouse Square and directly adjacent to an Orange Line Metro station, The Commodore includes more than 400 apartment units and ground-level retail.
