SGH Experts to Participate in SMiRT 28 Conference in Toronto

Several Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) team members will participate in the proceedings at the 28th International Conference on Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology (SMiRT 28) from 10-15 August in Toronto, Canada. This year’s conference will focus on “Harnessing Nuclear Technologies and Innovation as a Path to Net Zero by 2050.”

At the event, Mohamed Talaat will serve as a panelist during the special session “Motivation and Challenges with Risk-Informed, Performance-Based (RIPB) Design” on 14 August. He will present “RIPB Seismic Design Workflow: Lessons Learned from Implementing LMP Criteria” and join the discussion with other industry representatives to share implementation challenges for these projects. In addition, he will serve as the Co-Chair for the “D7- Reliability, Risk and Safety Margins” session.

Riccardo Cappa is serving on the International Scientific Committee (ISC), which is responsible for organizing the conference. During the planning phase, he supported the activities of Division 7, contributing to review and selection of papers focused on reliability, risk, and safety margins.

Many SGH team members representing divisions across the United States also contributed to papers and will present as part of the proceedings.
