SEAOSC Honors Taylor Walsh as Young Engineer of the Year

The Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) recently honored Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Project Consultant Taylor Walsh with a Young (Emerging) Engineer of the Year award. This award recognizes emerging engineers for their outstanding contributions to SEAOSC, the engineering profession, and the community. Taylor accepted the award earlier this month at SEAOSC’s Technical Summit & President’s Lunch in Los Angeles, CA.

Taylor is part of SGH’s Structural Engineering division in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to her technical work, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service within SEAOSC. As the incoming Chair of SEAOSC’s Young Members Committee, Taylor continues to foster engagement and professional growth among the organization’s next generation of engineers. She has also led SEAOSC’s Scholarship Committee for several years, overseeing the scholarship application review process and supporting the SEAOSC Foundation’s mission to invest in future engineering leaders.

“Taylor’s commitment to the profession extends far beyond her project work,” said SGH Managing Principal Kevin O’Connell. “Through her leadership within SEAOSC, she has helped create opportunities for students and young professionals while strengthening connections across our industry. We’re proud to see her contributions recognized with this well-deserved honor.”

Taylor’s dedication extends beyond committee leadership. Her efforts behind the scenes and at signature events such as SEAOSC’s Emerging Engineers Night have strengthened student engagement, mentorship opportunities, and professional development across the structural engineering community.
