Jeffrey Bowlsby Honored as ASTM Fellow with Award of Merit

ASTM International recognized Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Technical Director Jeffrey Bowlsby with an Award of Merit and the honorary title of Fellow for his contributions, leadership, and technical expertise in the field of stucco claddings throughout his career. The award is the highest individual honor bestowed by the ASTM Board of Directors for distinguished service and participation in committee activities. Members of ASTM Committee C11 on Gypsum and Related Building Materials and Systems presented the honor during an awards banquet in May in Philadelphia, PA.

“I am humbled to be named an ASTM Fellow and honored to join highly regarded colleagues who share a similar passion for advancing the quality and use of stucco on buildings,” said Jeff. “I’ve been a member of ASTM for many years, serving on multiple committees in various capacities, and am impressed with the wide range of experiences and perspectives that ASTM members contribute to the industry standards development process. My ASTM experience has greatly contributed to making me a much better, more informed professional and provided many professional relationships and friendships.”

Jeff has been an active member of ASTM since 2007 and previously received the organization’s Award of Recognition in 2016 and 2017 from ASTM Committee C11. He has led several task groups since 2013, including for ASTM C1063 – Standard Specification for the Installation of Lathing and Accessories and a recent new standard for which he is the primary author, ASTM C1861 – Standard Specification for Lathing and Furring Accessories, and Fasteners, for Interior and Exterior Portland Cement-Based Plaster. In 2013, he founded the ASTM C11 Stucco Work Group and has since led its monthly meetings to facilitate the development of all ASTM stucco industry standards and foster participation from stucco industry manufacturers, design professionals, applicators, and others around the world. He led three ASTM workshops, authored ten peer-reviewed and published papers on stucco claddings in industry journals, and published the stuccometrics.com industry information resource.

Jeff joins SGH alumni Werner Gumpertz, Frank Heger, James Myers, and Thomas Schwartz, who have previously been honored with the ASTM Award of Merit.
