Pushing the Boundaries of Timber Design

The August 2015 issue of Structure magazine features the article, “Pushing the Boundaries of Timber Design,” by Holger Schulze-Ehring, Filippo Masetti, and Matthew Johnson. The article discusses their work on the China Pavilion for Expo Milano 2015, and how they achieved the architect’s vision. The pavilion’s roof transitions from sharp angles in the back, representing the city skyline, to soft waves in the front, representing the Chinese natural landscape. The project was done in collaboration with Tsinghua University and New York-based architecture firm Studio Link-Arc.
