Exploring New York City‘s Energy Conservation Code Changes
Join us in New York for an in-person seminar and networking with industry colleagues.
On 31 December 2025, the latest New York City Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC) went into effect, mandating stricter requirements for building projects in the city. However, the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) will continue to enforce the existing 2020 NYCECC until updated compliance software becomes available, which is expected in March 2026. The revisions in this new code aim to improve energy performance, but also introduce design and construction challenges that can impact schedules and budgets. In this in-person seminar, we will explore these new changes from a building enclosure perspective and discuss how project stakeholders can prepare to meet compliance requirements. In particular, we will focus on how these changes will affect enclosure design requirements and modeling practices to strengthen building performance.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After attending this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Understand the code change process for New York City.
- Identify energy code compliance paths.
- Understand significant energy code changes related to building enclosures.
- Recognize how these regulations apply to new construction and existing buildings.
Participants will earn 1.0 AIA CES Learning Unit (LU/HSW) for attending the seminar. Registration is free. Please note that space is limited – email events@sgh.com to join our waitlist if the session is closed when you register.
