Steven DelloRusso Earns ASTM Fellow Distinction

ASTM International recognized Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Senior Technical Manager Steven DelloRusso with an Award of Merit and the honorary title of Fellow for his leadership and technical expertise advancing standards for reinforced concrete pipes and box sections. The award is the highest individual honor bestowed by the ASTM Board of Directors for distinguished service and participation in committee activities. Members of ASTM Committee C13 on Concrete Pipe presented the honor during their annual meeting in Indianapolis, IN.

“I am humbled to be named an ASTM Fellow and grateful to join colleagues who share a similar passion for advancing our industry standards,” said Steve. “ASTM has provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with experts from across the industry, broaden my knowledge, and contribute to standards that improve the safety and performance of our built environment.”

Steve has been an active member of ASTM for many years, and is the current nominee for Chairman of ASTM Committee C13 on Concrete Pipe, having served as Vice Chair of the main committee; Chair of Subcommittee C13.07 on Concrete Box Culverts; and a member of multiple subcommittees addressing reinforced concrete pipe and special projects. He also serves on the ASTM C13 Executive Committee. His contributions were previously recognized with the Merlin G. “IB” Spangler Meritorious Service Award in 2016 for outstanding technical contributions to precast concrete pipe standards.

In addition to his ASTM leadership, Steve contributes to the International Society of Explosive Engineers (ISEE) as a member of the ISEE Standards Committee and the New England Society of Explosives Engineers (NESEE), where he serves on the Board of Directors. He has also co-authored award-winning technical papers and project work, including recognition by the ASCE Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities for Outstanding Paper (2008) and the American Council of Engineering Companies of New England for Engineering Excellence (2023).

Jimmy Farrell, ASTM Staff Manager for Committee C13 Concrete Pipe, presents Steve with the Award of Merit.

Steve joins SGH’s Jeff Bowlsby and SGH alumni Werner Gumpertz, Frank Heger, James Myers, and Thomas Schwartz, who have previously been honored with the ASTM Award of Merit.
