The American Concrete Institute Honors Keith Kesner

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) recognized Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Project Director Keith Kesner with the Building the Future Award during the Spring 2026 ACI Concrete Convention, held 29 March to 1 April in Rosemont, IL. The award honors ACI members who demonstrate exceptional dedication to advancing the ACI Foundation’s mission through their time, engagement, and leadership.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition from the ACI Foundation and to contribute to the foundation’s mission,” said Keith. “Supporting research and investing in the next generation of engineers are critical to advancing our industry, and I’m grateful to be part of that effort.”

The ACI Foundation supports student fellowships and research that advance the concrete industry. As a trustee, Keith has contributed to fundraising efforts and helped refine the process for identifying and evaluating research initiatives.

Supporting research and investing in the next generation of engineers are critical to advancing our industry.

Keith has dedicated his career to improving complex concrete systems and has helped develop codes and standards for both new construction and the repair of existing structures. He currently serves on the ACI Foundation’s Board of Trustees and is Chair of ACI Subcommittee 318-B, Anchorage and Reinforcement. He is the past Chair and a current member of ACI Committee 562, Evaluation, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Concrete Structures, and serves on several other committees and subcommittees.

ACI recognized Keith “for his proactive, positive, and incisive guidance in strengthening the ACI Foundation programs and policies.” Reflecting on this year’s honorees, ACI President Maria Juenger noted, “These honors represent the very best of the concrete industry. Our members drive the innovation, research, and collaboration that shape the future of concrete around the world.”
