Paul Kassabian Recognized as an Honorary Member by the Boston Society for Architecture

The Boston Society for Architecture (BSA) recognized Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Principal Paul Kassabian as an Honorary BSA Member for his dedication to the field of architecture throughout his career as a structural engineer. The annual award is given “to honor a person of esteemed character who has rendered the profession of architecture as a valuable service within the territory.”

“I am grateful to be an Honorary BSA Member and honored to join this group of colleagues who share my passion for architecture and design,” said Paul. “I chose to make Boston my home and have been thrilled over the years to increasingly discover the wonderful group of intelligent, driven, and conscientious designers doing great work here. In particular, the crossover between teaching and practice moves our profession forward in ways that continue to thrill me. I’m a firm believer that, while we work in a world with limited physical resources, our ability to think creatively in design has no limits!”

SGH team members Michael Richard, Paul Kassabian, Rebecca Lubrano, and Charlotte Bouvier celebrate at the BSA Awards Gala.

In addition to being a Principal at SGH, Paul is passionate about sharing his love of design with others. He taught graduate-level courses in structural design at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for nine years and the Harvard Graduate School of Design for three years, and started teaching at Rhode Island School of Design in Fall 2022. He manages a YouTube channel explaining structural design concepts, which now has more than 3.5 million views. He is also listed as a co-inventor on a patent for foldable modular homes.

Paul was inducted at a ceremony at the BSA space in Boston on 7 March alongside fellow 2024 Honorary BSA Member Charley Stevenson of Integrated Eco Strategy.
