ASCE Names Pinn Winyoopongphun a 2026 New Face of Civil Engineering

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) named Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Project Consultant Pinn Winyoopongphun one of its 2026 Top 10 New Faces of Civil Engineering Professionals. The national recognition honors emerging leaders who are making meaningful contributions to the profession and their communities.

Pinn is part of SGH’s Building Technology group in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he specializes in facade and building enclosure systems for new and existing structures. His work emphasizes the building enclosure’s critical role in safety, performance, and long-term resilience. Through projects such as the Kresge College at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where SGH consulted on the design and construction of new building enclosure systems, Pinn has helped deliver sustainable, thoughtfully designed spaces for students and faculty.

In addition to his technical contributions, Pinn has demonstrated strong leadership within SGH, the national engineering industry, and his local community. He is a Board Member of ASCE’s Golden Gate Branch, serving as Vice President, and is also involved with the ASCE San Francisco Section Younger Member Forum, where he serves as the Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Chair. In his leadership roles, he supports strategic planning, member engagement, and program development, while helping create space for underrepresented voices through mentorship, advocacy, and inclusive initiatives within the profession. He is also an active member of SGH’s DEI Council and Employee Resource Group program and leads volunteer initiatives supporting organizations, including Elizabeth House in Oakland, Head for the Cure Foundation, and the San Francisco LGBTQ+ Center.

“I’m honored to be recognized by ASCE,” said Pinn. “Engineering is about advancing our built environment in ways that serve people. Whether through facade design or community engagement, I’m committed to helping ensure our profession continues to grow more inclusive, resilient, and impactful.”
