ACE Mentor Honors Mike Tecci’s Legacy

ACE Mentor Honors Mike Tecci’s Legacy

The ACE Mentor Program of Greater Boston recently held its Annual Networking & Fundraiser Event, raising more than $535,000 to support the next generation of architecture, construction, and engineering professionals. During the event, the organization dedicated the Mentor of the Year Award to late Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Associate Principal Mike Tecci, who tragically passed away last year.

A long-serving mentor, board member, and past president of ACE Mentor, Mike helped establish the Boston chapter in 2007 and played a pivotal role in expanding the program to six locations across Greater Boston. Throughout his career, he devoted countless hours to helping high school students explore careers in the industry, inspiring future leaders through his patience, generosity, and commitment to education.

He invested in students, young professionals, and colleagues with extraordinary generosity and never expected anything in return.

The new award recognizes mentors who embody the same spirit of service and dedication that defined Mike’s involvement with ACE. During the event, SGH Consulting Principal Pedro Sifre, Mike’s longtime mentor and colleague, presented the inaugural award to former SGH intern Yordy Tesfaye, now with Shawmut Design and Construction.

“Mike measured success not by personal accomplishments, but by the people he helped along the way,” said Pedro. “He invested in students, young professionals, and colleagues with extraordinary generosity and never expected anything in return. Mike’s legacy includes numerous building projects, impactful involvement in youth sports, and exquisite cuisine. Beyond that, the establishment of the Mike Tecci Mentor of the Year Award is a fitting tribute to the passion and energy he poured into the countless lives he influenced through mentorship.”

Mike spent more than twenty years with SGH and was widely known for his commitment to mentoring others. In addition to helping guide ACE students, he played a central role in SGH’s internship and co-op programs and was instrumental in recruiting and developing future generations of engineers.

SGH is honored to see Mike’s legacy recognized through this award and remains committed to supporting and contributing to the ACE Mentor Program’s mission.
