Part 1 – Selecting and Flashing Window, Storefront, Window Wall, and Curtain Wall Systems through the Exterior Enclosure
Glazed assemblies—including windows, storefront, window wall, and curtain wall systems—are critical building enclosure components that bring in natural light and allow for exterior views. While virtually every project has glazed assemblies, it can be a challenge to determine which one is the appropriate choice. These decisions affect how design teams properly detail wall flashing integrations that meet the project budget and aesthetics and avoid water leakage issues.
In the first session of our two-part webinar series, we will introduce aesthetic, construction type, and durability factors that impact how project teams select and flash glazed assemblies. We will also share general waterproofing guidelines for flashing glazed assemblies that can be applied across projects to help project teams avoid reinventing the wheel.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand the differences between a window, a storefront, a window wall, and a curtain wall.
- Recognize factors that impact whether a glazed assembly is appropriate for a project.
- Develop general detailing strategies for flashing glazing assemblies.
- Use general detailing strategies in an in-depth case study to develop flashing options based on the fenestration product.
Participants will earn 1 AIA CES Learning Unit (LU/HSW) for attending the seminar. Registration is free. Please note that space is limited – email events@sgh.com to join our waitlist if the session is closed when you register.
Note: This webinar was previously held in October 2023. Attendees of that session are encouraged to attend as a refresher and to prepare for the upcoming second part of this series, which will cover new material.
