Abstract: The evolution of fenestration products since WWII has been constant and dramatic. Fenestration products now approach the energy efficiency of what we used to be common for some opaque walls. Functional options have eased cleaning and improved operation. Clear spans and glazing alternatives have provided striking options for architectural expression. But the path to advancement has not been without significant performance glitches. This paper explores my almost 40 years of experience investigating the performance of fenestration products, through exploration of three of the following more significant issues: Certification vs. field performance; Gravity vs. chemistry; Window/Wall integration
