Abstract: This article is the second of two that examine the types of deterioration found in parking structures and how to repair and mitigate that damage. The authors discuss repairing delaminated or spalled concrete over corroded reinforcement, microcracking caused by pneumatic or electric chipping hammers, and hydrodemoliton - the use of high-pressure water to remove concrete. They also describe how to improve future durability of a parking deck once it has been repaired. They discuss stopping corrosion by cathodic protection and galvanic cathodic protection. Finally, the authors describe how engineers identify appropriate rehabilitation alternatives.
