SGH served as the building enclosure commissioning agent, focusing on the design and performance of below-grade waterproofing, prefabricated concrete wall panels, curtain walls, two-story tall windows, and low-slope roofing with numerous penetrations for mechanical equipment. Highlights of our work include:

• Preparing a building enclosure commissioning (BECx) plan integrated into the overall commissioning plan prepared by the mechanical engineer and developing the BECx specification to outline testing requirements for the enclosure systems
• Reviewing the building enclosure documents to evaluate the design’s conformance with the owner’s project requirements
• Collaborating with the project team to help them incorporate our recommendations into the design and construction
• Reviewing building enclosure submittals to evaluate their compliance with the project requirements and performance goals
• Visiting the site to observe the building enclosure construction as part of the quality assurance process, identifying non-conforming construction, and helping the project team address field conditions
• Observing others’ performance testing of building enclosure assemblies
• Planning a follow-up project visit ten months after substantial completion to meet with the facility management team, review the condition and operations of the building enclosure, and document issues related to the building enclosure
