SGH Senior Principal Said Bolourchi Named ASCE Fellow

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Board of Direction recently named Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Senior Principal Said Bolourchi to its latest class of ASCE Fellows. This recognition honors distinguished ASCE members who “have made celebrated contributions and developed creative solutions that have enhanced lives.”

ASCE recognized Said for his extensive experience leading and shaping SGH’s nuclear practice group, including his expertise designing, investigating, and rehabilitating new and existing nuclear facilities. ASCE also noted his efforts to develop a first-of-its-kind alkali-silica reactivity (ASR) monitoring program for Category I structures at Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, which has included presenting to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) in support of the plant’s license application.

“I am honored to receive this distinction and humbled to be named alongside such a talented class of ASCE Fellows,” shared Said. “I look forward to continuing my involvement with ASCE and working with my colleagues and peers to share expertise and ensure safety and efficiency in nuclear facilities and beyond.”

Said is a long-standing member of ASCE and an active participant in several committees, including ASCE 4 (Seismic Analysis of Safety-Related Nuclear Structures) and ASCE 43 (Seismic Design Criteria for Structures, Systems, and Components in Nuclear Facilities).
