Kevin O’Connell Quoted in Civil Engineering Magazine

The February 2015 issue of ASCE’s Civil Engineering magazine features an article titled, “Preparing for the Big One.”  The article reviews a plan presented by the mayor of Los Angeles which recommends ways to make the city’s buildings, water infrastructure, and telecommunications systems more resilient to a single seismic event.  Kevin O’Connell was interviewed for this article and is quoted several times.  He states, “Many people have an unrealistic expectation of how their buildings will perform in a major earthquake.”  He continues, “The biggest change that needs to be implemented is to get the general public talking about earthquakes and the seismic performance of the buildings.”
