Metallurgy and Materials Science Expert Dustin Turnquist Appointed to FAS and IMS Boards
Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Project Director Dustin Turnquist was recently appointed to leadership positions in two prestigious professional organizations focused on metallurgy and materials science. He will serve as Vice President of the Failure Analysis Society (FAS) for the 2025-2026 term and will join the International Metallographic Society (IMS) Board of Directors through 2028. Both organizations are part of ASM International, formerly the American Society for Metals.
“It is an honor to help oversee FAS and IMS and their many contributions to the industry,” said Dustin. “I look forward to partnering with my colleagues in these communities to continue growing our knowledge base and encouraging new membership.”
Dustin is a recognized leader specializing in failure analysis, product performance, and materials selection. He brings deep expertise in corrosion, fatigue and fracture characterization, and root-cause analysis to lead large-scale investigations into significant failures and losses, spanning the aerospace, automotive, power generation, health care, and heavy industry sectors.
He is committed to advancing the field by actively contributing to these professional organizations. He was a founding member of FAS in 2017 and serves as an editorial board member and technical reviewer for its publication, Journal of Failure Analysis and Prevention. Dustin has also contributed to the IMS Microscopy and Microanalysis Conference as a co-chairperson and session champion and actively serves as an AMS International member on several committees, conference planning groups, and the Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance.
