Answering Questions on Artificial Intelligence and Its Use by AEC Design Professionals

Answering Questions on Artificial Intelligence and Its Use by AEC Design Professionals

Evolving advances in artificial intelligence (AI) pose real and current challenges, risks, and opportunities for design professionals in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) community. Recent research in Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence found that ChatGPT using GPT-4 achieved a potentially passing score of 75.37% on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, underscoring the importance of this topic to the design community. In this webinar, experts from Simpson Gumpertz & Heger and Donovan Hatem LLP will ask and discuss various questions from both design engineering and legal perspectives to help design professionals navigate current AI considerations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand what developments in AI technology are driving the need for this discussion.
  • Identify types of architecture and engineering design work that are more suitable for AI, and what quality assurance/quality control procedures should be implemented.
  • Recognize categories of work that should, and should not, currently be performed by AI.
  • Discuss guidelines and guardrails for effectively and responsibly using AI.

Participants will earn 1 AIA CES Learning Unit (LU) for attending the live webinar. Registration is free. Please note that space is limited – email events@sgh.com to join our waitlist if the session is closed when you register.
