Why Do Wall Assemblies Fail?

Unlike the robust solid masonry walls of days gone by, modern building enclosures typically consist of multiple layers of lightweight construction materials, each serving a very specific function. While these wall systems are quick to assemble and are much more energy-efficient than their predecessors, their relative tolerance to moisture is minimal, and their sensitivity to design and construction errors is high.
