Quality Control Issues with Fire-Related Laminated Glazing
February 11, 2015
Construction Specifier Magazine recently published an article titled, “Quality Control Issues with Fire-Related Laminated Glazing,” written by David E. Sacks and Bradford S. Carpenter. The article discusses fire-resistant intumescent laminated glass, a relatively new product, and the limitations associated with its use. The newness of fire-rated curtain wall glazing systems results in undeveloped standards and codes, and the infancy of the product to the construction market causes contractor unfamiliarity. The authors emphasize the importance of building owners, contractors, and architects understanding the limitations of these products to better inform their practices and clients.
