On 15 June, Building Enclosure magazine published the article “Designing for the Challenges of Zinc Roofing,” written by Jeff Ceruti, Dan Clark, and Kelsey Dunn. In article, the authors share that they “have seen multiple zinc roof failures associated with backside corrosion due to material selection, and improper flashing and ventilation detailing.” The authors share these observations in the piece to elaborate on the zinc corrosion mechanism and examine the nuances of properly designing zinc roofs to minimize leakage and the risk of backside corrosion.
