Detailing Penetrations Through the Exterior Enclosure

Detailing Penetrations Through the Exterior Enclosure

Lights, cameras, signage, and utilities are just a few examples of penetrations made through the exterior enclosure of a building. These penetrations serve critical functions for facility owners and occupants, but complicate the exterior enclosure and can create unintended water intrusion. If detailed and installed properly, however, these alterations can achieve their desired results without creating unintended performance issues. In this webinar, we will review penetrations through below-grade waterproofing, exterior walls, and roofing to develop common strategies and share best practices.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Develop general details for penetrations through the exterior enclosure.
  • Identify and avoid penetrations that cannot be reliably waterproofed.
  • Implement a strategy for unique penetrations that arise in the field.
  • Recognize challenges of post-installed penetrations.

Participants will earn 1.0 AIA CES Learning Unit (LU/HSW) for attending the live webinar. Registration is free. Please note that space is limited – email events@sgh.com to join our waitlist if the session is closed when you register.
