Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is proud to award the third-annual Buchberg Scholar Award and Internship to Andrew Melissas, a third-year undergraduate studying civil engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). SGH also offered a paid internship to runner-up Arjun Bir, a second-year undergraduate studying civil engineering at Georgia Tech. In addition, we will donate $500 to support a non-profit of Arjun’s choice.

About the Award

SGH established the Buchberg Scholar Award to honor Brandon Buchberg, a former member of SGH’s Building Technology Division who unexpectedly passed away in November 2013. Brandon earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Georgia Tech’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2000 and 2002. We grant the award to an individual in the pursuit of engineering who embodies Brandon’s depth of character and breadth of extracurricular activities. The award includes $5,000 a year up to four years and a paid internship at SGH.
