The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) recently inducted Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) alumnus Glenn Bell to its 2021 Distinguished Member class, the organization’s highest honor reserved for those who have attained eminence in their branch of engineering.
In a news release, ASCE noted that it chose Glenn for his “technical excellence in structural design, building envelope systems and earthquake engineering, building the practice of forensic engineering, co-founding the ASCE Forensic Engineering Division and Collaborative Reporting of Seismic Safety–U.S. (CROSS-US), and professional leadership here and abroad, including educating, training, and mentoring of young design professionals.” Glenn served as Chief Executive Officer and Senior Principal at SGH for many years, acting as structural engineer of record on hundreds of projects involving new design, investigation, and rehabilitation work.
“I am honored to receive this recognition from ASCE and humbled to join alongside so many accomplished Distinguished Members,” said Glenn. “I have always cherished the opportunity to share my knowledge and expertise with the profession to improve the performance and safety of our structures while helping to pave the way for the next generation of structural engineers.”
