ABOUT THE EVENT

Located in harsh marine environments, coastal and waterfront developments require special considerations to ensure resilience over the project’s design life. Material selection, siting considerations, protective coatings, waterproofing detailing, and drainage are all important considerations requiring the design team’s attention for these unique projects. The San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority’s new ferry terminal expansion project in downtown San Francisco is a great example of a successful design for an urban waterfront location. In this webinar, we will discuss the project’s design and explore lessons learned relevant to other waterfront areas. We will also highlight innovative features employed by the program team in structural material selection, waterproofing strategies, drainage considerations, and climate change planning.

After attending this seminar, participants will be able to:

bill bruinWilliam M. Bruin, P.E., D.PE | Senior Principal 
William Bruin has extensive experience in risk consulting, structural engineering, and project management applied over a variety of industrial, offshore, and marine projects. His career has focused on condition assessment, response evaluation, risk identification, hazard mitigation, due diligence assessment, and design for a wide variety of marine and waterfront structures. His responsibilities have included on-site reviews, condition assessments, analytical evaluations, risk and loss estimations, conceptual upgrade and mitigation designs, construction document development, permitting support, as well as on-site supervision of design installations for onshore, near-shore, and offshore structures and facilities.
