Maine Medical Center Parking Garage

Portland, ME

The 220,000 square foot, eight-story precast-concrete garage is located on a steeply sloped, narrow site adjacent to an existing garage. In addition to structural design, SGH worked with the construction manager to provide peer review services for the fifty foot permanent earth-retention system along the south and east sides of the site. This system allowed the garage to be designed as if it were located on a flat site, despite the steep hillside.
