SGH Engineer to keynote 2009 Fire Safety Conference
WHO: Jonathan Barnett, Ph.D., Staff Consultant, Simpson Gumpertz and Heger Inc.WHAT: Dr. Barnett will deliver the keynote luncheon address at the Atlanta chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers’ Fire Safety Conference. In his speech, he will address the major factors that contributed to the collapse of World Trade Center 7. He will also explore his analysis of the failure, important lessons learned, and the implementation of necessary design changes to mitigate the risk for a similar failure in the future. In his remarks, he will examine some of the key factors identified by NIST that caused the collapse, as well as code changes that were implemented as a result of these findings.
