SGH to Present at National Preservation Conference 2008
WHO: John A. Fidler, Staff Consultant and Practice Leader for Preservation Technology at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH), a national engineering firm that designs, investigates, and rehabilitates structures and building enclosures.WHAT: SGH will host an advanced technical session at “Preservation in Progress,” the 2008 national convention of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. John A. Fidler will illustrate international trends in sustainability as applied to preservation and will moderate the session.

WHEN: Wednesday, 22 October, 8:15-9:45 am
In his session, Fidler will teach delegates about climate change impacts, adaptation, and mitigation strategies for historic buildings. Using his experience at SGH, and as the former Conservation Director of English Heritage, he will put these technical, social, and economic issues into context. The National Trust invited Fidler to lead a training session for the National Preservation Conference after he contributed to developing the Trust’s socio-economic and ecological sustainability policies. Also presenting are Christopher Wood, MRICS, Head of Building Conservation and Research at English Heritage, and Sarah Staniforth, Historic Properties Director of the English National Trust.
Themed “Preservation in Progress,” this year’s National Preservation Conference is the premier resource to learn about preserving the historic built environment.
