AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS HONORS MEHDI ZARGHAMEE WITH THE 2008 STEPHEN D. BECHTEL PIPELINE ENGINEERING AWARD
Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH) Senior Principal Mehdi Zarghamee, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, recently received the 2008 Stephen D. Bechtel Pipeline Engineering Award from the Pipeline Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). With this award, ASCE recognizes Zarghamee's "more than forty years of dedicated service to the pipeline engineering community and his significant contributions to the research and development, analysis and design, failure investigation, condition assessment, risk analysis, and repair and rehabilitation of pipelines."Established in October 1970, the Stephen D. Bechtel Pipeline Engineering Award annually distinguishes outstanding achievements in pipeline engineering. The Bechtel Foundation donates funds to support the award in honor of the contributions Stephen D. Bechtel, F.ASCE made to the engineering profession and for his noteworthy advancements in the design and construction of pipelines throughout the world.
"The Bechtel award is the highest recognition in pipeline engineering and one of the most prestigious in the engineering community," said Glenn R. Bell, CEO of SGH. "Frank Heger, a founding principal of our firm, won this award in 1995; and Mehdi has carried on the tradition of contributing significantly to the field of engineering. We applaud him for this milestone achievement."
