SGH performed preliminary design and reviewed the final design of a 2-MG elevated prestressed concrete water tank for Crom Corp., who constructed the tank. The tank and its foundation are cast-in-place concrete and the cone is post-tensioned both circumferentially and meridianally with six-wire strand tendons. SGH performed the preliminary design of the tank with a computer program that we developed for Crom Corp. The program calculates forces and moments due to dead, water, snow, and wind loads for the dome, dome ring, cone wall, cone floor, access tube, pedestal cylinder, and foundation mat, and required prestressing forces.
