Abstract:Many construction contractors prefer to place below-grade property-line walls using shotcrete to save costs associated with formwork installation. However, below-grade shotcrete walls at property-line conditions have frequently been susceptible to water intrusion. This article explores issues associated with leakage through below-grade shotcrete walls and recent technical developments to improve the watertightness of below-grade shotcrete wall construction at property lines. These developments include both the use of concrete waterproofing admixtures and membrane systems.
