Abstract: Existing sealant industry design and construction guidelines can be useful resources for the typical sealant applicator, general contractor, architect or engineer tasked with sealant design, or facility manager tasked with a sealant project. However, the producers of these guidelines span across construction disciplines and multiple sources, such as sealant manufacturers, test standard organizations, industry associations, and trade publications, and the information often is not compiled for overall guidance.|Built on the authors’ experiences of sealant investigation, consulting, and design projects, this article highlights six key stages of a successful sealant project while referencing some best practices of established design and construction guidelines.
