Abstract: Explicit mass concrete requirements are becoming more frequently addressed by specifications for highway foundations and thick mat foundations. They typically provide the cracking criteria as well as require a heat of hydration analysis and a detailed thermal workplan of the proposed mass concrete placement within its construction schedule. Three commercially available software tools capable of predicting the early-age thermal behavior of concrete mixtures are reviewed in this article.
