The National Facilities Management and Technology (NFMT) Conference was held on 10-12 March 2015 in Baltimore, Maryland, and staff from the DC office gave two presentations. Joseph D. Rogers, Philip Frederick, and David S. Slick gave a presentation titled, “Addressing Moisture in Concrete for Roofing and Flooring Applications,” which detailed the causes of concrete substrate moisture-driven roofing and flooring failures, and how the failure mechanisms must be considered in the design or repair process. Jeffrey D. Kerr and Brian S. Rose also attended the conference and gave a presentation called, “Finding the Value in Building Enclosure Commissioning,” in which they described the Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) process, outlined the roles and responsibilities of the BECx Agent, discussed the value inherent with the BECx process, and examined the future of BECx.
