SGH offers broad-based services in analysis of dynamic events leading to the failure of buildings, infrastructure, and special structures. Our capabilities in structural engineering / structural mechanics and materials science and engineering include metallurgy and welding, stress and deformation analysis, dynamic analysis, and the development of statistical models for predicting material and structural performance. Our in-house testing laboratory is used to design and conduct standard and nonstandard tests to answer questions regarding performance of materials and structures.
Our work requires mastery of analysis and design procedures and knowledge of construction processes. Coupled with rigorous investigative skills and methods and excellence in written, oral, and graphical communications, our capabilities allow us to identify the technical reasons for failure and to communicate our findings and opinions effectively.
As part of the evaluation of dynamic failure events, we perform advanced computer analysis to study stability, deterioration, fatigue, and loading. We use state-of-the-art finite element programs such as NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS, and SAP2000 to calculate static, dynamic, and nonlinear structural response of a variety of structure types, including tanks and pipes.
We provide factual, accurate, and impartial information that has formed the basis for numerous legal actions. Our investigators are experienced in the development and presentation of exhibits and testimony. Issues are often settled based on the thoroughness and clarity of our reports and presentations. Clients include property owners and managers, insurers, attorneys, and design and construction firms. Our senior staff has experience at trial, in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) forums, and in depositions.
