On 17 June 2015, a ceremony celebrated the time capsule’s return to the Massachusetts State House cornerstone. The time capsule was originally removed from the State House cornerstone on 11 December 2014 with the help of SGH, Walsh Brothers, and the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) conservator Pam Hatchfield. It was refilled with various memorabilia, including the original contents, a new engraved silver plate, a 2015 mint set of coins, and a 2000 Massachusetts state quarter. SGH’s Susan Knack-Brown and Casey Williams attended the ceremony.
SGH advised on technical aspects of the new time capsule construction and placement back into the State House cornerstone, and oversaw construction to replace the building stones. Shoring removal will begin soon, and the building and grounds will be restored by early July.
Susan is mentioned in an article covering the ceremony and discusses the stone removal and plans to add it back into the foundation.
