Several members of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger’s (SGH) Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics group will take the stage to receive industry awards and present technical sessions at the annual Structures Congress on 24–27 April in Orlando, FL. Hosted by the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the event will convene experts from across the industry to discuss best practices and new advancements in structural engineering.

At the event, the organization will honor SGH Senior Principal Glenn Bell with the 2019 Dennis L. Tewksbury Award, recognizing his outstanding professional leadership in and service to SEI. Throughout his career, Glenn has advocated for SEI initiatives and served in leadership roles, including on the SEI Board of Governors, the SEI Global Activities Division, and the SEI Futures Fund. Glenn is currently SEI President-Elect; his term as President begins 1 October 2019. Through SEI, he leads the U.S. introduction of the Confidential Reporting on Structural Safety (CROSS) system and chairs the technical committee for the first joint SEI-IStructE International Structural Engineering Conference, to be held in Dubai this September. Last year, he received the 2018 SEI President’s Award at Structures Congress.

In addition, SGH staff members will present papers and take part in panel discussions throughout the event’s technical program.
